Seattle on Film

In December last year Rachel and I took a trip to seattle to see Jeremy Cowart's Lifefinder tour. I have been a fan of Jeremy Cowart's work for a long time, and he is one of my biggest inspirations. He is humble, talented, and artistic in a way thats not self glorifying or prideful in any way. He is also giving, and generous. He is the founder of the Help Portrait, a moment dedicated to helping Photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and many others give back to their communities. He is in so many ways a picture of the kind of man I wanna be when I grow up:) and it was amazing to meet him and hear him speak. We drove to seattle from montana for that, but ended up staying a couple days. I hadn't ever been to the city before, and instantly fell in love. we went to the art museum, stopped at pikes place market, and saw the gum wall, and visited the first Starbucks(Picture above). We decided to leave the digital cameras behind for most of the trip, taking a couple old cameras and film. All images are unretouched or edited, except for the shot of us with Jeremy Cowart, because it was severely underexposed haha turned it black and white.  We haven't shown these images anywhere else, and just got one of the rolls back from Richards Photo Lab last night. Enjoy!

All images taken on Kodak Portra 400, with a Canon AE-1 35mm and Bronica Etrsi  Medium format camera.

California dreamers, images captured on iPhone and Holga

Favorite part of photography is traveling. Its the reason I first picked up a camera, and the reason I look forward to every trip this "job" has taken Rachel and I on. Even if its just across a few state lines, being new to a place, seeing everything fresh is so inspiring. Its a good thing I like it too, because at the moment Rachel and I are stranded in California. Note to self, double check the itinerary... In hindsight its worked out for the best though, and Rachel and I have been stuck here with nothing to do but catch up on editing, and hang around in pajamas all day. We also wouldn't have had time to visit San Francisco if we had known our flight was leaving.

A little off topic, but Rachel and I are watching the Wedding Singer, and I've decided I want John Cusack and Drew Barrymore to play Rachel and I in our movie "The Wedding Photographers" haha (Seriously though, why hasn't a romantic comedy been made yet about photographers? We have singers, planners, caterers, I think even a florist in there somewhere, best friends, but not photographers...

The pictures in this post were shot with an assortment of cameras, a Holga, iPhone, and a Canon 5D mark II.

Tadd & Cassie {wedding} :: Loomis, California

Oh Tadd and Cassie..."I LOVE YA!" It's been a long time coming, and I feel so blessed you chose us to photograph your California wedding! We couldn't ask for a better couple!!! I met Tadd and Cassie at church while I lived in California. Right away I liked them both and as I type this up I keep remembering the fun times we had at Mel's Diner in the middle of the night!! Your day was beyond special and I'm giddy to show you the pictures...I know you're anxious, hehe!The wedding was held at The Blue Goose Fruit Shed in Loomis California. Even with the down pour that day Cassie kept her cool and was beaming all day long. Her caring and loving side never left as she wandered from room to room making sure everyone was taken care of. Even when I was drenched from shooting in the rain she was worried about my hair...as she's about to walk down the aisle! And then there's Tadd. Oh Tadd. I wish every groom was as cool as Tadd. If you could morph Jim Carrey and....a quiet Jim Carrey you would have Tadd. They by far had my most favorite First Look I've ever photographed. They're so sweet and hilarious and we a BLAST with them and their bridal party! xoxo -Rachel

Cara {Boudior}

I'll start this post with saying it's Rachel writing...and I took these photos, haha! This is the GORGEOUS Miss Cara. I had the pleasure of meeting her about a year ago when I contacted her about doing a styled shoot with me. She's the owner of Mum's Flowers in Whitefish, MT and one insanely talented florist!!! We met for coffee and we just clicked. She has amazing taste and I LOVE seeing what she comes up with every wedding! I really hope to photograph more of the weddings she does the flowers for....so brides, I HIGHLY recommend Cara! ;) Cara contacted me awhile ago about doing a boudior session for her man who was just deployed over seas. I can't wait to get the album for her and send it to him, such a sweet gift for her fiance. They're so in love and I'm happy I was able to do these for them. :) We took these in Cara's house, which is flippin amazing, natural light and gorgeous furniture everywhere. Not to mention Cara is one of the prettiest girls I know, these have to be some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken!!!!
